The Generations Project
Clients who took part in the Generations Project have been featured in our marketing, shared through photography competitions, and displayed on our studio walls. Family relationships between generations remind us that there is common ground to be found between all of us, regardless of age.
This project began in early 2020. It was the start of a new decade, and many of us were keenly aware of the passage of time. My kids were in high school at the time, and the difference in perspective between our generations was palpable. Rebellion surrounded me, so I needed to showcase the loving connection that’s possible (and even crucial) between people of different generations.
Soon, the Covid-19 pandemic paused our efforts to bring extended families together. But when the worst had passed, we brought the project back. After the impacts of a global pandemic, honoring and cherishing family connections was more important than ever! The experience reminded us that it’s never too soon, or too late, to create portraits that speak to your legacy. Who knows what the future holds?
The Purpose
Our Generations Portrait Project aimed to bring families together and provide important examples of loving connection. Emotional portraits allow people to empathize and understand each other better.
Why black and white?
Black and white highlights the sentiment in a portrait. Stories live within the boundaries of their emotional essence when you eliminate color. The tones of gray, black and white enhance the importance of expressions, posing, and lighting, while fashion and style choices recede. Black and white transforms an ordinary moment into a striking piece of art.
